1. Calendly: best AI scheduling assistant
Why it stands out. Send one link and people book a time that fits your calendar. The free plan includes one event type, one calendar connection, and a booking page you can customize. Calendly’s AI assistant, Callie, schedules over email: copy it into a thread and it suggests times, handles replies, and books the meeting. Its Notetaker joins Zoom, Google Meet, and Teams calls and writes recaps. Both are add-ons for the Standard and Teams plans. Teams is US$16 per seat a month (billing period not stated).
Watch out. The free plan allows only one event type and one calendar. Callie and Notetaker work in English only, and they cost extra on top of Standard or Teams.
2. Acuity Scheduling: best for client appointments
Why it stands out. Acuity is built for booking clients. Every plan includes payments and deposits through Stripe, Square, PayPal, or Venmo, custom intake forms, email reminders, and automatic time zone conversion. Standard adds text reminders, a waitlist, and packages and memberships. Acuity also lists an AI Booking Assistant. Starter is US$20 a month on the "Pay monthly" option, or US$16 a month on "Pay annually," with a 7-day free trial and no card.
Watch out. There’s no free plan. Starter covers one calendar; for staff or locations you’ll need Standard (US$34 a month on "Pay monthly" or US$27 a month on "Pay annually," up to 6 calendars).
3. Cal.com: best free plan
Why it stands out. The free plan has no usage limits for one user, with unlimited event types and calendars, email and SMS notifications, Stripe and PayPal payments, and a mobile app. You can import your Calendly event types in one click. Teams is US$12 per user a month, billed yearly, and adds round-robin booking and lets you remove Cal.com branding. Paid plans have a 14-day free trial.
Watch out. The free plan only includes templated reminder workflows, and team features need a paid plan. Cal.com’s pricing page doesn’t describe an AI assistant for booking, though it links to a separate AI phone agent.
