How we pick AI tools for small businesses
mom and bot is for small shops, trades, and service businesses of about 20 people or fewer, in Canada and the US. We list AI tools that a team that size could actually start using, and we tell you plainly what each one does and costs.
What gets a tool listed
We look for tools that:
- Do a real job a small business has, like writing posts, answering customers, or keeping the books
- Show their prices clearly, or tell you what you get for free
- Can be set up without hiring someone
- Are still working and still being looked after by the people who make them
Being listed is free. You can’t pay to get in or to move up.
How we rank them
In each category, the tools that fit a small team best come first.
How we keep it current
Every listing shows the date we last checked it. We check tool sites, prices, and links regularly and flag anything that’s changed. A tool that has stopped working for two weeks or more is taken off the site. Nothing changes on the site automatically. Every new tool and every change is reviewed before it goes up.
How we make money
mom and bot is free to use. It’s paid for in two ways:
- Affiliate links. Some links are affiliate links. We may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Those links have a small "Affiliate" label next to them.
- Sponsored spots. Tool makers can pay to be featured on the home page, at the top of a category, or in our email. Those spots are always labeled "Sponsored."
Paid and affiliate status never changes a tool’s ranking. A tool that pays us doesn’t move up, and a tool that doesn’t pay us doesn’t move down. Many of the tools we list don’t pay us anything.
