This page explains what mom and bot collects when you visit momandbot.com, sign up for our email, or contact us, and what we do with it. We’ve kept it short and in plain words.
Who we are
mom and bot is run by FREEWING TECHNOLOGIES CORP., Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. If you have questions, email hello@momandbot.com.
The short version
- You can use mom and bot without signing up or giving us your name.
- We use Google Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and clicks, so we can see what’s useful and make the site better. Google Analytics uses cookies, and you can turn them off at any time.
- If you join our email, we keep your email address to send it. You can unsubscribe in one click.
- We don’t sell your information.
- Some links are affiliate links. If you click one, the tool’s own website may know you came from us.
What we collect and why
When you visit the site
Google Analytics. Google Analytics uses cookies to count visits and clicks. It records things like:
- The pages you visit and how long you stay
- Which tool links you click, including affiliate links
- When a sponsored spot is shown to you, and whether you click it
- When you sign up for or confirm our email, or use Share or Copy link
- Roughly where you are (country or city, based on your IP address), your kind of device and browser, and the site or campaign that sent you (for example, a link in our email)
We use this to learn which pages, tools, and spots are useful, to report totals to sponsors, and to improve the site. We never send your name or email address to Google Analytics. Google processes this data for us. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Whether Google Analytics starts on depends on where you are:
- In Canada, the EU/EEA and the UK (or if we can’t tell where you are), Google Analytics stays off until you click Accept.
- In the US and other regions, it’s on when you arrive. You can click Decline, or turn it off later, and it stops right away.
Cloudflare Web Analytics. This counts visits and page views so we can see how the site is doing. It doesn’t use cookies and doesn’t track you from site to site, so it keeps counting even if you decline cookies.
Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools. These show us how the site appears in Google and Bing search, such as which searches led people to us. They report totals to us and don’t add anything to the site or your browser.
Our host. The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any host, Cloudflare may keep basic technical logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, to deliver and protect the site.
When you join our email
If you sign up, we collect your email address. We send you an email to confirm first, and you’re only added once you confirm. We use your address only to send you our weekly email. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link.
Our newsletter is sent by Buttondown, which stores the list for us. Buttondown tells us whether each email was opened and which links in it were clicked, so we know what’s useful. Links in our emails also carry a short tag showing they came from our newsletter.
When you email us
If you email hello@momandbot.com, we get your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to answer you. Email to that address is passed through Cloudflare to our inbox.
When you click an affiliate link
Some links on mom and bot are affiliate links, and they’re labeled "Affiliate." If you click one, the tool’s website may set its own cookie so it knows you came from us, and it may pay us a commission if you buy. That company’s privacy policy covers what it collects. We don’t receive your name or payment details from them. At most, we see reports of clicks and sales.
If you sponsor us
If you contact us about sponsoring, we use your business contact details to talk with you about it.
Cookies
The only cookies mom and bot sets are from Google Analytics. In Canada, the EU/EEA and the UK (or if we can’t tell where you are), they’re set only after you click Accept. In the US and other regions, they’re set when you arrive unless you click Decline. You can change your choice at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page, or by clearing cookies in your browser. Cloudflare Web Analytics doesn’t use cookies.
We don’t use advertising cookies or ad tracking.
Affiliate partners may set their own cookies on their own websites after you click a link.
Who we share information with
We don’t sell your information. We share it only with the companies that help us run the site: Cloudflare (hosting, email forwarding, and analytics), Google (Analytics and Search Console), Microsoft (Bing Webmaster Tools), and Buttondown (our email list). They may store and process it in the United States or other countries. We may also share information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Google Analytics: 14 months, then it’s deleted.
- Your email address: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
- Emails you send us: as long as we need them to answer you and keep a record.
Your choices
- Turn off Google Analytics cookies with Decline on the banner, or later with "Cookie settings." It stops right away.
- You can also use Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
- Unsubscribe from our email in one click.
- Ask us what information we have about you, ask us to fix it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing hello@momandbot.com.
If you’re in Canada, you have rights under Canadian privacy law, and if you’re in the US, you may have rights under your state’s law. Email us and we’ll help.
Kids
mom and bot is for business owners. It isn’t meant for children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
