1. Canopy: best AI features

Why it stands out. Canopy says every plan includes the full platform, with a CRM, workflows, document management, billing, a client portal, payments, and core AI capabilities. Its AI Meeting Notetaker (in beta) turns client calls into notes synced to the CRM, with 8 hours per user a month on Standard. Canopy Coworker, an AI assistant also in beta, can plan and carry out work with your permission. Standard is US$74 per user a month, billed annually.

Watch out. Several AI features are still in beta, and AI use has limits. Add-ons like tax workflow automation (from US$34 per client credit) and month-end close automation (US$10 per connected client a month) cost extra.

Why it stands out. Essentials is US$800 per seat a year with a 1-year commitment. It includes a CRM with unlimited contacts, a client portal and mobile app, unlimited document storage and e-signatures, ready-made workflow automations, and payment collection. Pro (US$1,000 per seat a year) adds AI-powered reporting on your firm’s performance, an IRS transcript integration, and links to client general ledgers for bookkeepers.

Watch out. Essentials is for one user only. All plans are billed upfront for 1 to 3 years; there’s no monthly option for core seats.
